What do you remember about Leicester City during the nineties?
“Minding My Own Football Business” by Barrie Pierpoint, Leicester City’s first Chief Executive, chronicles the Club’s journey, on and off the pitch, from the brink of relegation to the Third Division to the heady heights of the Premier League.
But this isn’t just Barrie’s story – there were hundreds of people responsible for City’s remarkable success. This book features contributions from over forty people, from directors, staff, fans and journalists to corporate clients, team managers and players, including Steve Walsh, Emile Heskey, Simon Grayson, Gary Mills and Tony Cottee.
Find out:
• What Pontus Kamark said to Juninho during the 1997 League Cup Final
• How close Leicester City were to building a new stadium at Bede Island South
• Which striker Emile Heskey looked up to in his early days as a professional
• Which City player waved a loaded gun at his teammates and more . . .

I’ve ready many books on Leicester city and ex players autobiographies but this is by far the best book ever written about Leicester city. By people who were actually there and lived it. It’s a pretty big book with lots of stories from ex players, Brian Little and Mark McGhee , ex directors, ex staff and fans. Glory days of the 90’s and takes you right back to that time. If you’re thinking about getting this book get it !! It won’t let you down. Hopefully will see more Leicester city books done like this in the future.

Fully recommended for any Leicester fan in the 90s. Lots of info here on Leicester’s route to the Wembley finals, behind the scene events and player interviews: Heskey, Walsh and plenty I didn’t know. Must read!

Excellent book, very interesting and informative about the club and great credit to Barrie for playing his role behind the scenes and sharing this information to us fans.

I would say its more like a time machine back to1990’s Leicestershire than a book! An extraordinary insight to the business workings of a football club, I couldn’t put it down. A must read for football enthusiasts in general – but especially those that grew up supporting LCFC in the 90’s.

It was one of the most captivating books I have read recently. It uses great moments of glory and the hard times to tell a story that makes it a compelling read. Football Club history that was instrumental in determining the future success.

This book really gives you a sense of the optimism you felt as a City fan during the period the book is set.
The innovative, upbeat style of Barrie & his team really did pull the club up from the stale & static way the club was run up until then.
Success on the pitch, went hand in hand with Success behind the scenes. There are plenty of highly entertaining anecdotes and input from staff & players from that (mostly) happy period, highly recommended for any fan of football
